Scholarships

URMIA promotes continued professional development for those in the field of risk management in higher education. We also invest in the future of the risk management profession as a whole.

URMIA offers two types of scholarships: Conference and Student Educational scholarships. We offer financial aid to those wishing to attend an URMIA conference who might otherwise be unable to do so. These scholarships are intended for Institutional members who have not yet had the opportunity to attend an URMIA conference. We are also proud to offer educational scholarships for students pursuing careers in risk management.

The application deadline is Thursday, March 15, 2018. Please see below for more information.

Conference Scholarships

Regional Conference Scholarships

Our regional conferences are a series of one- to two-day events held throughout the United States and Canada. Each regional conference offers attendees a more intimate setting for continued education, networking, and professional development.

Scholarships for a regional conference are intended to assist recipients with travel and registration costs up to the amount of $500. Please note that recipients of a regional conference scholarship are ineligible for other conference scholarships in the year they are awarded. Watch this site for a call for applications, typically announced in the fall.

Annual Conference Scholarships

URMIA’s annual conference scholarship program is designed to provide educational opportunities for higher education risk management professionals who have not attended an URMIA annual conference.

These scholarships are intended for URMIA members who are responsible for risk management at their institution or work within a risk management department at a college or university. For the annual conference, five to six scholarships up to the value of $1600 will be awarded to help with travel costs. The application timeline for annual conference scholarships begins late spring and runs through early summer.
